C01: Formation and degradation of microplastics under simulated environmental stress
The focus of my experiments is laboratory weathering of different polymer particles (PS, PP, LDPE etc.) using simulated solar radiation and mechanical stress. Gel permeation chromatography, particle size measurements and surface characteristics via SEM imaging are used to monitor polymer break-down and fragmentation as a function of exposure time.
